Day 1: Getting the Forms

During our first day, we drove in one car up to the VA Hospital in Long Beach to get the forms from Building 50, the volunteering office at the VA. At the volunteering office, we met with a nice gentleman, who sat down with the four of us, and let us know what we need to do. He was very informative and also very kind to not only us, but to his employees. Every time he walked past a colleague, he would make sure to greet him or her.

We made sure to be respectful to the employees, follow directions carefully, and ask questions as we were going through the process of filling out paperwork. This paperwork included scheduling an appointment for our volunteer orientation day (October 6, 2017 at 7:30 am) and also scheduling an appointment for our TB screening (days vary for each member). We all look forward to volunteering at the VA so that we can positively accompany veterans and make sure that they are not forgotten.
